Join this free Introduction to Cybersecurity course through the Cisco Networking Academy taught by Mike Parker, McMurry University Cybersecurity Program Director. Course registration is completely free, and consists of 15 hours of online, self-paced instruction and three synchronous Zoom classes sessions led by Mr. Parker. No prerequisites are required.

This introductory course is designed to give students foundational knowledge of the Cybersecurity industry by exploring cyber trends, threats, and the broader topics of the field. Students will focus on learning four skills:

• What cybersecurity is and its potential impact for each of us

• The most common cyber threats, attacks, and vulnerabilities

• How businesses protect their operations from attacks

• The latest job trends and why cybersecurity continues to grow

This course is not for credit at McMurry, but instead to earn an industry-recognized Cisco Networking Academy badge and to familiarize students with the Cybersecurity field. It also prepares students to move directly into McMurry's online Bachelor of Science degree in Cybersecurity.
